Nick’s previous work as a member of parliament and professional engineer (now non-practising), provide special insights to help clients solve complicated problems in a collaborative yet rigorous way. From November 2015 until October 2019 , Nick was the Member of Parliament of Canada for the Riding of St. John’s East. His most fulfilling roles in public life were as the chair of the Atlantic Liberal Caucus, the chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration and as a member of the House of Commons Standing Committees on Natural Resources and Government Operations and Estimates. His engineering expertise is in applied mathematics and electrical engineer.
Throughout his professional life, he has had the opportunity to achieve success for organizations of all sizes, for both new and established companies, in the not-for-profit sector and in relation to complex organizational matters for national broadcasters, and for international energy companies.
Born and raised in St. John’s, NL, Nick earned an LLB from McGill University and earned both a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Engineering from Queen’s University. He is currently a member of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador and an Attorney in the State of New York. He is also a non-practicing member of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador. While a member of parliament, Nick was made a Fellow of Engineers Canada (FEC). After politics, Nick earned the ICD.D designation as part of the Directors Education Program at Rotman School of Business and the Instituate of Corporate Directors.
