National Day for Truth and Reconciliation September 16, 2021 / Announcement

The offices of Benson Buffett will be closed on September 30, 2021 in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Over the summer, the Federal Government announced the creation of a new federal statutory holiday, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

This day was established in response to the 80th call to action in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada:

We call upon the federal government, in collaboration with Aboriginal peoples, to establish, as a statutory holiday, a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation to honour Survivors, their families, and communities, and ensure that public commemoration of the history and legacy of residential schools remains a vital component of the reconciliation process.

While this holiday is not yet recognized under provincial law, in support of the 80th call to action, the firm wishes to provide time and educational opportunities for our team to recognize, acknowledge and reflect on the tragic history of residential schools and to commemorate and honour survivors and their families.

For clients who anticipate requiring our services on September 30, please reach out directly to your regular Benson Buffett contact. We are pleased to assist you in making necessary preparations to avoid disruptions on this important day.
