Congratulations to Deborah Hutchings QC on her recent election to the Board of Directors of Canadian Maritime Law Association (CMLA). The CMLA’s mandate is to advance the development of effective, modern commercial maritime law within Canada and internationally. Members of the CMLA include practicing maritime lawyers and companies, groups and individuals interested in the shipping and maritime industry. As Canada’s only representative to the Comité Maritime International (CMI), whose headquarters is in Antwerp, the CMLA is influential in the unification and development of maritime law around the globe. Deborah, currently CMLA’s only director from Newfoundland and Labrador, is highly regarded nationally and internationally as a maritime lawyer and is honored and excited to join the Board. We, at Benson Buffett, are proud to have Deborah as a member of our team.
